Rotarians with the Rotary clubs of North Bay and Nipissing gathered at the Rotary Pollinator Garden at the waterfront on October 16, 2023, for a Peace Pole dedication.
Promoting peace is one of Rotary International’s 7 Areas of Focus, where we direct our efforts to enhance our local and global impact, through the implementation of sustainable projects and activities.
The Peace Pole displays the message “May Peace Prevail On Earth”, in 6 languages, as an affirmation of peace and its placement furthers Rotary's goal of building a culture of peace throughout the world.
Rotary Peace Poles are intended to inspire unity among people of all cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds.
It is estimated there are over 250,000 Peace Poles, in every country in the world, dedicated as monuments to peace. There are plans to install a Peace pole next to the Rotary Splash Pad and at Rotary’s Camp Tillicum in 2024.
