ImageThe Rotary Club partnered with Wingate Lotteries to donated 2 new scooters in time for the holiday season.

“The new scooters are fantastic,” said mall general manager Paulette Gagnon. “They are so streamlined and compact that they are ideal for shopping, and they’re fast to, so you can really get around.”

“The customers of Wingate, through the purchase of lottery tickets, made it possible for Wingate to make a generous donation to the club with the expectation we would use that money to buy new scooters for the mall,” commented Rotarian Don Coutts.

The club made the presentation on October 30th, which turned out to be very timely.  The only scooter, donated by the Rotary Club of North Bay-Nipissing, stopped functioning the previous week, as it had simply worn out from heavy use.

The demand for the scooters, which can be signed out at the Customer Care Desk (outside Northern Reflections), is continually increasing due to our aging population and mobility challenges.  Consequently, the Rotary Club has challenged other local service organizations to consider adding to the fleet.
