PRESIDENT'S REMARKS
President Brett Tucker

President Brett welcomed the members and guests to our 2nd last meeting of the Rotary Year.

President Brett reflected on his Year as President.

June 2015 – Sao Paulo Brazil for the RI Convention, where I met so many new Rotarians and learned so much.

July 2015 – Presidential handover.

Assembled a team of professionals to help rebuild the fun in our club (Bill, Nicole, Steve W., Chris, Trudy, Tom T., Gerry, Yvonne W., Natalie, Jeff R.).

Rotary Golf Day at Osprey – fellowship and networking.

Downloaded committee work back to the committees; Rotarians in Action.

Built new budgets, including setting new fees to hit budget…Administration with Yvonne Taylor: 1. Established realistic goals. 2. Committees held to budget numbers. 3. End of year surplus.
Charitable Trust with the Board: 1. Large budget. 2. Available funds. 3. Major build at Camp Tillicum.

Sudbury District Conference -
-Roaring 20’s gala theme was a hit…our group was the envy of all;
-RI President Award, District Governor Club Achievement Award;
-great times to be remembered;
-so many new Rotarian friends.

The Legion sells…Rotary moves to Cecil’s “The Grande Event Centre” – new venue, new food, new friends of Rotary.

Christmas Gala – great acts, great Rotarians and great fun!

New year = new recruits. So many, so quick. Was it the food? No, it is our club. 2015-2016 Rotary Year we added 16 new members (went from 57 to 73), with 2 new members as of the last Board meeting. We are growing due to our culture of fun.

Incoming Board for 2016-2017, with Natalie who is ready for her Year – lots of energy, great ideas, team spirit, willingness to listen & learn; and looking forward to the next RI Convention in Atlanta (June 2017).

This year was fun! But for me…
F = Focus – on the needs of our club.
U = Understand all who asked to be heard.
N = Never say no…just engage.

Thank you all for a great year, until next time – salut!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

2016-2017 Membership Dues
Please remember, if you have not already done so, to pay your 2016-2017 membership dues before July 1st. Your dues notice was sent out by Yvonne Taylor, Administration Treasurer. The full dues is $275, with the option of paying in 2 instalments (July 1 - $142.50/Jan 1 - $142.50). The option of making your annual Rotary Foundation contribution can be done at the same time. Please plan on dropping your cheque off to Yvonne at the YMCA.

Youth Exchange Program
Still in need of one more host family (can be a friends of a Rotarian) for our inbound student for 3 months (May-July). If you are able to participate or know of someone who might, please contact Chris Parkin (cparkin01@hotmail.com / 705.497.9203) for the details.

Rotary Rose Day
Chair Steve Wright, on behalf of the committee, announced a very successful event again this year with a profit projected to be $9,950. A special thanks to the committee and all those Rotarians who helped out over the 4 days and/or sold flowers - and of note congratulations to former Rotarian Dave Saad who sold an incredible 230 dozen roses.

July 4th President Changeover BBQ
Please note that the changeover meeting will be taking place at Osprey Links on the evening of July 4th, starting at 5 pm. Family and friends are welcome to join us! There will be no noon meeting at Cecil's that day.

Len Landry suggested that members make a call to fellow Rotarians they know who have not been out to a meeting in the past while, to see how they are doing and tell them we miss them, and we hope to see them out to a meeting, fellowship or fundraising event soon.
